Punctdom

I think I am really going to enjoy this class. It sounds like a very interactive class. The definition of the word, Punctdom really stuck out to me. Google tried telling me that it is some body part? Related to the eye? or something like that. But upon further searching I found this definition. Punctdom- Learning that punctum, referred to the instant or immediate response that you can get from a picture. Especially at first glance and the emotional impact it makes, or what sticks with you.

I think that it is so cool that our brain can remember images like that and associate feeling with it and let you access that later when you see something similar.

  1. I agree! It's amazing how our brain can pick up on an aspect of the image and associate it with something else. According to Roberta Fallon's article "Punctum" in Philadelphiaweekly.com:

"A punctum is a small detail in a photograph (intentional or not) that takes the viewer into a different subtext than the main subject. For example, a portrait may depict a face and body, but the dirt road in the distance—the punctum—adds a layer of reverie and intrigue, directing the viewer’s imagination elsewhere.
